Zelenogorsk golden beach

There are a lot of golden beaches near Saint Petersburg, and you can find one of them in Zelenogorsk. Zelenogorsk (or Terijoki) is located in the northwest of Saint Petersburg on the shore of the Gulf of Finland.
1. There were only birds and old people on the beach that day, and it’s usually full of people during summers and weekends.

The English Garden of the Catherine Park

The English Garden or the Landscape Garden is a second part of the Catherine Park.

The Catherine Park is located in the town of Pushkin in the south of Saint Petersburg. It is a part of the royal residence in “Tsarskoye Selo” (“Tsar’s Village”) and was named after the Catherine Palace.

    1. Admiralty is the complex of three pavilions near the Great Pond. Its central block was used as the storage of the boats, and it gave the building its name. Today it’s used for temporary exhibitions and as a Museum’s Visitor Information Center, and a cafe. Also, I can see faces. ^___^

Sakura blossom in the Botanical Garden | May 2015

Spring blossom at Saint Petersburg’s Botanical Garden.
Every year in early May sakura trees (and other trees of course) start to bloom intensively. Lots of people gather around them trying to catch the moments of pink happiness.

Here are moments of my “sakura hanami” from May 2015. I hope you’ll enjoy it and it will bring peace to your heart.

Squirrels in the Sosnovka park | April 2014

The Sosnovka park is the forest area in the north of Saint Petersburg. It’s a home not only for different types of birds but also for red squirrels. And spring is a great time to observe red squirrels as they change the colour of their fur.

Red squirrels in the Sosnovka park are almost tame, they aren’t afraid of humans and are used to them. They know that humans come here to feed birds and squirrels and that they would bring nuts with them. So it was quite easy to find squirrels and take photos of them.

Birdwatching in the Sosnovka park | March 2014

You’re someone who took up birds in the first place because they fired your imagination; they fascinated you because they seemed of all created beings the nearest to pure spirit — those little creatures with a normal temperature of 125 degrees. ‘That goldcrest, with a stomach no bigger than a bean, flies across the North Sea!‘” J.D. Salinger

One day many years ago I discovered a passion for birdwatching. I didn’t know back then what “birdwatching” was, but I found watching local birds rather fascinating. And when you do it with a camera it somehow resembles hunting, but without hurting any one of them (it’s a really strange example but anyway). Because birds move all the time, you need the patience to wait for them to appear and then you have to take photos quickly in a second before they fly away.
Sosnovka park is a rather large forest in the north of Saint Petersburg. It’s a great place for watching local birds, especially in spring.

Sakura and other trees in the Botanical Garden | April 2014

Oh, the spring and its sweet unrealistic promises of beautiful future. I walked around St. Petersburg’s Botanical Garden during the most romantic time of the year (back in 2014).

And, of course, beautiful sakura stood out from others. Sakura is often elusive – every year one tries to predict its bloom according to the weather forecasts and magical rituals in order to see it (before the crowds of other people), and of course tries to catch it in its short blossoming period.

    1. Spring sky and the sakura trees.

Spring flowers in the Botanical Garden | April 2014

Spring in the Botanical Garden (in any botanical garden) always looks good – a variety of early flowers wakes up around, the air seems clearer and more romantic than ever.

    1. I want to be distracted by something beautiful, and what can be more beautiful than flowers? This is Erica Carnea (the Winter Heath) attacking me with its crazy pink flowers.
